The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA), with its more than 600 corporate members and 40,000+ franchisees from many of Canada’s best-known and emerging franchise brands, has announced that Ryan Picklyk, Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships & Franchising at A&W Food Services of Canada Inc., has been named the new Chair of the CFA Board of Directors.
Picklyk has been a member of A&W Food Services of Canada Inc.’s development team for the last 15 years and a member of the CFA Board of Directors for five years. In his role at A&W, he leads a team focused on continuing the brand’s growth across the country taking on board the needs of franchise industry leaders, and their franchisees, especially in the quick service restaurant sector.
“I have always had a passion for helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses,” says Picklyk, adding: “and that is what I most enjoy about my work with A&W. This is why I am proud to act as the Board’s Chair for the upcoming term. New Board members include: Paul daSilva, Chair, Franchise Support Services; Andrew Arminen, Director; Dixie Ho, Director and Nathan Oxford, Director.
DaSilva is currently the National Vice President for Franchise and Retail Brands at RBC and a career banker of 34 years standing, 25 of those helping franchisees grow their portfolio and setting them up for potential future success as entrepreneurs.
Andrew Arminen, Director, meanwhile, is Chief Operating and Development Officer at Metal Supermarkets – his primary focus being the support, expansion and development of the Metal Supermarkets’ network.
Dixie Ho, Director, currently serves as VP of Legal, and heads the legal team for the privately held, Canadian-owned MBI Brands. Her experience in franchising spans all aspects of strategic advice, from franchise development to contract management and risk management.
Finally, Nathan Oxford, Director, can claim extensive experience in the commercial cleaning industry, being Vice President of Operations & Growth Strategy at Jani-King Canada. With a strong background in business growth and development he has demonstrated expertise in budgeting, conflict resolution and franchise mentoring.
Beyond its role as the voice of the franchise industry, the CFA also strengthens and develops franchising by delivering best-practice education while fostering connections between Canadians and exploiting the opportunities available in franchising.
