Joseph is a seasoned corporate and commercial lawyer with a focus on franchising, distribution, intellectual property, and cross-border trade. With over 590 franchise systems and 9,600+ contacts in his portfolio, he serves as counsel to franchisors across North America. Joseph has represented numerous US franchise systems expanding into Canada and advises multi-unit franchisees and franchisee associations.

A registered trademark agent, Joseph is actively involved in the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives, International Franchise Association (IFA) working group since 2019. He has contributed to various industry forums including the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA), Ontario Bar Association, American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, and the International Franchise Association.

From 2011 to 2015, Joseph served as Secretary and General Counsel to the CFA and was an executive board member from 2007 to 2015. He continues to contribute to the CFA’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee and represents Canada on the International Franchise Lawyers Association.
