Filipino fast-food chain to roll-out 16 restaurants across British Columbia over the next five years. Initiative comes after separate commitment for 10 outlets in the Edmonton market
Taken together with the existing networks these agreements will increase the size of the company’s Canadian footprint to 54 locations and reflect its growing use of experienced multi-unit franchise operators to accelerate development, having spent much of its first decade in Canada building a company-operated network.
Longer-term, the company is looking to have 500 restaurants across North America by 2030, with the franchising model playing an increasingly important role.
Meanwhile, the British Columbia agreement – signed with an unnamed but experienced multi-brand food retail operator – was concluded through JBM LLC, the Jollibee entity responsible for the company’s North American franchise program.
Richard Shin, Jollibee Group Chief Financial and Risk Officer and Jollibee Group International Chief Executive Officer said: “Canada continues to be an attractive growth market for Jollibee, supported by strong consumer demand, strong brand relevance, and increasing interest from experienced franchise operators.”
He added: “This latest agreement reflects the growing appeal of the Jollibee brand and our confidence in the long-term opportunity in Canada. As we continue to expand through disciplined franchising, we remain focused on partnering with operators who share our commitment to operational excellence, sustainable growth, and building scale in priority markets.”
Jollibee is offering a range of franchising opportunities to fit various locations and business needs, including standalone buildings with or without drive-thru, strip mall endcaps, urban storefronts, exterior mall entrances, and food courts. The company is also exploring future opportunities in unique locations like airports, transit hubs, college campuses, military bases and medical centers.
It says it continues to see strong franchise interest across Canada and remains engaged with prospective partners across multiple provinces – these discussions supporting the Group’s strategy to broaden market coverage, build scale in key Canadian markets, and sustain disciplined, franchise-led international growth.
