Hair today, gone tomorrow

Canadian hair removal franchise Foxy Box Laser & Wax Bars remains only Green Circle certified hair removal franchise

Hair today, gone tomorrow

Continuing to set a new eco-standard for self-care, as consumers increasingly demand sustainable choices, Foxy Box is ensuring that even everyday beauty rituals can leave a lighter footprint on the planet.

According to Green Circle data, salons in North America generate approximately 877 pounds of waste per minute. This equates to about 421,000 pounds of waste per day, assuming an eight-hour workday.

Under existing arrangements all locations will be collecting and shipping up to 95% of their waste to a facility run by the Green Circle Salon program, where it will be recovered and repurposed, so that no waste will end up in a landfill or waterway. In the case of Foxy Box, single-use beauty waste like wax strips and applicators will be used in a waste-to-energy process to create clean renewable energy.  The leftover ash will then be used as a filler in asphalt for paving roads.

More generally, the hair removal concept isn’t entirely new of course, which means there is a large market to cater to with less competition than that of a food and beverage franchise, for example. As the company argues; there is consistent repeat business, given hair grows back.

Research from IBISWorld showed the personal waxing and salon industry growing at an average of 7.6% annually between 2010 and 2015; and the value of the global hair removal market amounting to $880.2 million dollars by 2017.

Meanwhile, Cognitive Market Research values the current (2025) Canadian waxing market at $148.60 million; and by 2030 revenues are forecast to hit $334.7 million, giving a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 7.3% over the forecast period (2024-2030).

Growth will likely be driven by factors such as increasing underlying demand for waxing, as well as innovations in wax products. In addition, continued growth in e-commerce and an ongoing focus on sustainability will also contribute to market expansion.

What does this all mean for Foxy Box? Simply put; it isn’t just offering silky-smooth results in what is a significant growth industry – it’s also redefining what it means to feel good and do good by the planet. Last year, it kept 70,000lbs of waste out of landfills!
