Wendy’s aims for home run

As the Blue Jays and Dodgers battle it out for baseball supremacy Wendy’s is hoping to score a home run of its own, after opening a new outlet on Baseball Place in Toronto’s east end

Wendy’s aims for home run

Franchisee John Ribson opened his organization’s headquarters and a Wendy’s restaurant on Blue Jays Way in 2024. Recently, he added another winning location to his roster: his 52nd restaurant in Canada, a brand-new non-traditional Wendy’s on Baseball Place in Toronto’s east end.

A new non-traditional urban format

“Baseball Place” isn’t just a catchy address in the city of Toronto – it’s a tribute to the city’s love of the game. The street is part of a new development built on the site of Toronto’s original baseball grounds, honouring the sport’s rich local history and the fans who’ve filled the stands for generations. It’s also just down the road from Rogers Centre, home of the Toronto Blue Jays, making it a natural fit for a Wendy’s that celebrates community.

Both restaurants feature the Global Next Gen design that includes self-order kiosks, seamless delivery integration, and modern digital enhancements that cater to evolving consumer expectations. The Baseball Place location also supports our strategy to expand non-traditional development across Canada – specifically in downtown urban locations such as Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver – to bring the brand closer to where Canadians live, work, and play.

Whether it’s urban storefronts, campus locations, or stadium-adjacent hotspots like the restaurants on Blue Jays Way and Baseball Place, Wendy’s Canada is finding fresh ways to serve fans.

Community spirit and team pride

John is also a proud community supporter and has helped young athletes chase their dreams by sponsoring youth baseball teams, for the last three seasons.

“Baseball has always brought people together, and that’s what we love about Wendy’s too,” he says. “Opening my 52nd restaurant on Baseball Place feels like a home run and the perfect way to celebrate our love for the city and the game.”

This weekend, excited Blue Jays fans will fill the stands and gather downtown, marking the perfect time to grab a Frosty and cheer on Canada’s team. John’s Wendy’s locations downtown will be ready to serve fresh, never frozen hamburgers to fuel the fandom.

Here’s to the Jays chasing the 2025 World Series!
